Supported Hardware
A Vendilator node is a Raspberry Pi running the agent, an MDB controllerboard between the Pi and the machine's bus, and an optional receipt printer. On top of that it integrates with invoicing and identity providers. Anything marked verified has been tested end-to-end on a real machine; other items are documented or planned, and labelled as such.
Raspberry Pi 4 Model B
VERIFIED ✓The compute node. It runs the Vendilator agent, talks to the MDB controller board, and stays connected to the cloud over Wi-Fi or Ethernet. A 2 GB Pi 4 is more than enough. A Pi 5 also works; a Pi Zero 2 W has not been tested.
- OS
- Raspberry Pi OS (Bookworm), 64-bit Lite.
- power
- Give the Pi its own USB-C 5V/3A supply. Powering it from the controller board or the MDB bus is not recommended.
- network
- Wi-Fi or Ethernet. The agent also brings up a recovery Wi-Fi access point if it can't get online, so a device is always reachable in the field.
- setup
- A one-line installer, run once with a token from your dashboard, registers the device and installs the agent. Serial port setup for the qibixx hat is handled by the installer; the Picovend connects over USB and needs nothing extra.
